MUSIC RECITAL

One of the attractive features of the recital to be given at the Civic Theatre to-night in aid of Nazareth House Orphanages will be some interesting part songs, one being the celebrated "Ave Maria," by Schubert. Miss Molly Metson will sing the solo. Joan of Arc's "Farewell to the Forest," vividly portrayed by Tchaikowsky, will be included in Miss Garven's numbers. She will also sing songs by Schumann, Brahms, and Strauss. "Serenade," "The Happy Vagabond," "Trees," "Home, Sweet Home," and others. Operatic excerpts include: "Softly Awakes My Heart," by Mrs Anita Ledsham; Figaro's ever-popular song from "The Barber of Seville," by Mr Stanley Sayers, the opening solo, and "One Fine Day," from "Madame Butterfly," by Mrs Agnes Leeming, the former solo being accompanied by a large chorus of girls' voices; and the "Jewel Song," from "Faust," by Mrs J. Brosnahan. Other artists assisting are Misses Irene McLennan, Eunice James, Marion Hayward, Messrs C. Stewart, J. McClinchy, E. Norrish, and C. Hartley. Among the well-known songs will be "The Rose of Tralee," "Annie Laurie," "Robin Adair," and "Mother Machree." Piano solos include "Rigoletto," "The Ride of the Valkyries," and "The Juggleress." The booking is at The Bristol.
