To-night at 8 o'clock, in the Jellicoe Hall, Miss Nancy Hume is presenting a concert in aid of the ladies' queen, Mrs V. C. Peters. The programme is an exceptionally good one and should attract a large audience. To-morrow a grand concert, with community singing, will be held by the Optimists' Club in the Sumner Town Hall at 8 p.m., and such well-known artists as Messrs Rex Harrison, J. L. Tennent, W. J. Spratt, Miss Clarice Cooper, and Miss D. Webb will take part. In addition to this there will be community singing led by Mr K. G. Archer and Mr Bert Goodland, and magic by "Mystico." The Optimists' octette, which attracted such favourable comment at their broadcast from 3YA, will also give several items. On Saturday, October 7, there will be a novelty "father and son" evening in the association hall for the boys' queen, Miss Molly Evans, and all fathers and sons are cordially invited to be present. The first part of the programme consists of various items by the boys, and following these there will be a number of novelty events and side-shows. At 7.45 p.m. the same evening a novelty function in aid of the Optimists' queen will be a mock wedding reception at the Young Men's Christian Association. All the wedding party will consist of residents of the association's hostel.
