ROBBERY PLOT FOILED
(Received September 10, 8.34 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 10. A skilfully-arranged plot to hold up a motor-car carrying officers who were going to pay unemployed relief workers in the Randwick district was foiled by the police, who provided strong escorts at several points. The would-be robbers were evidently alarmed and the payments were made without trouble. About £2OOO was paid in wages. A decoy car was used, but presumably the plotters' had been warned.
