THE WINTER SHOW.
ALL SPACE IN BARRACKS TAKEN UP. All space in the King EdwardJß*** racks for the Canterbury Winter ShW and Exhibition has now been booked up. The demand for space by rfhlWtors has exceeded that of previooi years, and enquiries are still being received. The Cashel street annexe It nearly finished and the nanulieturers will take possession of the barracks next Wednesday morning. The Winter Show Executive has invited children of the Christchurch and surrounding districts' primary scboclt to visit the show during the first week, and from August 7to 11. They wffl be admitted free when accompanied bT their teachers, ana certificates wul later be awarded to those among them who write the best essays on thwf impressions of the show. Visits ty children from country schools, several of which have already made eßqulnft have been arranged for the «WW week. , . ~. The tug-of-war contests, to be boa on four nights, have attracted much interest, and it is hoped to xnakt tge competition an annual mannequin parade and the pantomime are also stimulating enquiries.
