I Dr. Spiegel, a Jewish lawyer who was recently marched by Nazis barefoot through the streets of Munich with a placard suspended from his neck reading: "I will never again complain to the police about the Nazis," was murdered "while attempting to escape" from the concentration camp at Dachau. The "Daily Herald" says that the Nazis admit his death, but the formula "while attempting to escape is now regularly used to account for deaths of victims at concentration camps. The Dachau camp is surrounded by electrified barbed wire, making escape impossible. "Tiio The Berlin correspondent of J-he Times" says that curiosity regarding the number of prisoners in concentration camps has been only partially appeased by the official nouncement that there are 18,000, including 12,000 in Prussia. An unofficial estimate, based on the numbers of daily arrests since the Reichstag fire, would have been nearer 100,oSo. The NaziMmgter for the Interior in Saxony, Kerr Fritsch, recently boasted that there were twice as many P riso " e " . £ c axo nv's camps as m .Prussia sThere have also . been , t^?^n^| t es arrests in Bavaria and other states recently.
