HANDSOME BUILDING.

THE CONTRACTORS' PART. FITTINGS AND SERVICES. Those responsible for remodelling the former structure have produced a building of which Christchurch may be proud. Mr J. C. Holliss was the architect, and under his direction Mr T. E. Marriott was responsible for carrying out the contract. Credit is also due to the sub-contractors whose share of the work was no small one. The plastering, interior, and exterior, adds greatly to the artistic finish, and was done by Messrs Estall and Buxton. The structural iron work and verandah, giving solidity and strength to the building, was in the hands of Mr E. J. Ruddick, engineer, and the heating system, which was installed by Messrs Vale and Company, has been

most favourably commented upon. The whole of the joinery and woodwork fittings were carried out by Messrs A. W. Sparrow and Company, and Mr J. Alexander had charge of the electrical installation, which includes the special alarm system, so necessary to such a structure as an ambulance building. The plumbing and other similar work was in the hands of the Walton Plumbing Company. Mr B. W. Younger supplied the board room and office furniture, Messrs Turner and Loader the electric ranges, Messrs Johnson and Smith the bodies for the three modern ambulances, and Todd Motors the chassis for the motors.
