Charged with being intoxicated in charge of a car, and with driving negligently without a license, John William Murtagh was to-day convicted on all charges in the Inglewood court, and fined £3O on the first two charges. He was also prohibited from taking out a license for two years. The police said the charges arose out of an accident on March 3, and it had taken two months to trace the driver. He was found in Timaru, and the summons was served in Christchurch. The accused, who did not appear, contended in his statement that the accident was due to a tyre blowing out.
