GAMING CHARGES.

POLICE RAID AT WHANGAREL (rr.Ess a.s3ocia-cic>>- I'liiiSaii'.n.) WHANGAREI, July 11. The police this afternoon conducted a well-planned, simultaneous invasion of various premises in the business area of Whangarei, resulting in the arrest of eight persons, four of whom were charged before justices of the peace with keeping common gaming houses, and others with being found on such premises. The principals were remanded on substantial bail, and the remainder on their own recognisances until tomorrow morning, when they will oppear before a magistrate. The principal alleged offenders were Charles Schon, Arthur Lawrence Lambess, Arthur Clark, and Sydney Raymond Stockley Bowyer.
