WRESTLING.
JACK PATTERSON V. AL PEREIRA. The fifth professional wrestling match of the season will be held at St. James* Theatre to-morrow evening, between Jack Patterson, of the United States, and Al Pereira, of Portugal. Pereira is already very popular with local patrons, who appreciate his style of being on the attack right from the opening gong. Last Saturday evening he wrestled George Walker at Auckland, and must be accounted very unlucky in not having gained the decision. With no falls, Pereira was well ahead on points at the last round, when the referee gave a somewhat hasty submission fall against him. Patterson, of "thunderbolt* fame, has been wrestling well this season, and against Walker recorded a draw, but suffered defeat on the second occasion. It would be hard to find two more evenly-matched wrestlers, and the bout should be packed with thrills from start to finish. Patrons would be well advised to purchase their tickets before the match at Lange's, United Service Buildings, where all tickets, including reserves, are now available. MAMOS BEATS PEREIRA. (riiF.as ASSOCIATION TZLESKUC.) WELLINGTON, July 8. Remarkable staying power and an eye to the main chance enabled Mamos to beat Pereira in the Town Hall this evening. Mamos, who at 14s.t 51b, was giving away 131b, secured the only fall of the contest with a press in less than a minute after the opening of the sixth round. Pereira missed with a flying tackle and was easily pinned. The closing rounds were full of action and thrills, but Mamos, working on the defensive, proved too hard a nut to crack.
