DEMPSTER TO PLAY AGAINST WEST INDIES. (UNITED PP.ESS ASSOCIATION —BY ELECTRIC COPTBIGHT —TELEGRAPH.) LONDON, July 2. C. S. Dempster, of New Zealand, will play against the West Indies at Old Trafford on July 12, and is expected to play in all the Lancashire matches at the end of his qualifying period. ENGLISH COUNTY MATCHES A correspondent signing himself "Interested," sends a summary of the position of county cricket in England to date. , . , .. "With half of the county cricket season at Home now concluded,' he says, "the enclosed table,' showing the position of the teams may be of interest to your readers. As this year the counties do not all play the same number of matches, the percentage system is again being adopted, the points allocated being 15 for a win, five for a win on the first innings, three for a loss on the first innings, and four points each when no result is reached." LANCASHIRE LEAGUE SCORES. (Received July 4, 12.17 a.m.) LONDON, July 3. Scores in Lancashire League cricket matches are:— Richardson made 87 not out and took five wickets; Fairfax made 41 not out; McDonald took Ave wickets; Merritt made 53 and took three wickets, and Cromb made 35 and took five wickets. Constantine made 108 in 72 minutes and took live wickets for 36.
