AEOLIAN CLUB.

FIRST RECITAL OF SEASON. The Aeolian Club (president, Mr Ernest Empson) will give its first recital in the Radiant Hall on June 21, instead of June 15, as first stated. The programme will consist of many fine works, both vocal and instrumental, and will include the pianoforte concerto of Delius, played by Mr Frederick Page. It is a work of great beauty, and as Delius is little known to the Christchurch public, the audience will appreciate the opportunity of hearing this great composer's work. Miss Olive Cooper will play the first Brahms Rhapsodie in B Minor, op. 79, a composition which is said to be as grateful to the pianist as it is interesting to the musician. A contrast in the programme will be provided by Mr Gordon Anderson, who will play a group of modern works, including "The River Maas" (B. van den Sigtenhorst Meyer), "The Little White Donkey" (Jacques Ibert), and "Women Spinning Near Caranteo" (Rhene-Baton). The vocalist will be Miss Lillian Hanham, who will sing "Vissi d'arte, Vissi d'amore," from "Tosca" (Puccini), and a group of songs, including "O, Sleep, Why Dost Thou Leave Me?" (Handel), "Sunday" (Brahms), and "Deep in Love was I" (Rachmaninoff). Another interesting number will be the Beethoven instrumental trio in C Minor, op. 1, No.. 3, played by Miss Dora Deal, Miss Marjorie Chapman, and Miss Bessie Pollard.
