THE COASTAL TRADE.
NEW VESSEL TO REPLACE THE BREEZE. A 900-ton motor-vessel is being built at Glasgow for the Canterbury Steam Shipping Company to replace the steamer Breeze, which was scrapped about 18 months ago sifter being badly damaged when she grounded at Gore Bay in a fog. Scott and Sons are the builders of the new vessel, which will be constructed of steel and fitted with Diesel engines. The ship will embody every modern appliance for the handling and carriage of coastal cargo. Captain fL. Monro, superintendent of the company, is supervising the construction of the vessel, and it is expected that she will be completed in time to arrive in New Zealand at the end of this year. No name has yet been decided "upon. At present the company has four vessels in its fleet, the steamers Calm, Storm, and Gale, and the motor-vessel Foxton.
