CANTERBURY AMATEUR CLUB. A successful smoke concert was held by the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club at its rooms. Smith), .Celtic (Mr J. ivlurphy), and New Brighton (Mr Hughes); "Old Timers" (proposed by Mr R> der and responded to by Messrs j lewellyu, Anderson, and Taylor jun.); "The Canterbury Centre" (proposed by Mr Gracie, and responded to by Mr Flewellyn). Cups were won by D. Anderson, Reece cup for half-mile; Canterbury championship, J. Olliver; women's challenge cup, Watson cup for teams cnampionship, University; Ballantyne cup for Arms' relay. New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative; Kennett cup lor most points in open handicap events, C. Harwell; Flower cup for most improved athlete, R. Ritchie; Daniells cup 220 yards scratch, under 17, S. Baker. Items were given by Messrs B. CJoodland (pianist), Tichener, J. Lockart, N. Down, Wilson, Fiewellyn, and Lawrence.
