A SPORTS GROUND PATHWAY.
TO THE EDITOR O* THE PRE3S. Sir, —At the "Hospital Corner" is the gate giving access to the South Hagley sports grounds, and used on Saturday afternoons in winter by at least 1000 persons going to hockey, basketball, or football. Between the gate and the nearest end of the sports ground is a patch of land about a chain wide still in a virgin state, worn by countless feet into deep channels which in winter become a veritable bog. It would be a courteous act on the part of the Domains Board to have a few loads of soil tipped there and a path formed, so that spectators may reach the grounds at least dry shod. Perhaps the new curator would be considerate enough to do something, and so earn the gratitude of all sport patrons.—Yours, etc., SPORT. April 7, 1933. [When this letter was referred to Mr H. Kitson, chairman of the Domains Board, he said that he would not reply to anonymous correspondence.]
