EXTENSION OF NEW SCHEME. (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) (Received April 9, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, April 1. An electromagnetic traffic control system, now successfully operating in Trafalgar square, will shortly be adopted in 36 municipal areas, including many large industrial cities. Instead of having fixed time intervals, the new system actually operates the colour of the light signals in accordance with the varying traffic requirements by means of a detector unit indicating the presence and movement of approaching vehicles.
