The Senate declined by 24 votes to 16 to pass the second reading of the Oath Bill, which it refused to consider pending negotiations between the executive and the British Government with a view to an amicable settlement. Mr Eammon de Valcra opposed negotiations with Great Britain. The constitution provides that tho bill will be legalised early in April, in spite of the Senate's opposition.
