The Deputies to-day began discussion on the budget, which should have been tabled last October. Expenditure amounts to £583,300,000, compared with £614,000,000 last year. This includes the national defence vote of £136,000,000, compared with £159,000,000 last year. The revenue proposals will come later, but a large deficit is probable.
