The recommendation was adopted It was suggested that on* of tbe events at St. Patrick's spoils on Saturday next should V. made a New Zealand championship nice. .Mr J. M. Coffey a;tid that if this were done a gieat deal of inteiest would be added to the sports. The *hree miles championship for the season had not. yet been allotted, and Ihe St. Patrick's Sporfs Association should he allowed to apply for it. It vvas moved that one championship event be allotted lo tbe St. Patrick's Sports Association, one lo the Leeston Club, and one to the Sefton Club. The motion was passed tvnd s it was decided that the championship for the 31. Patrick's sports be the three miles. The Leeston Club's programme for its meetmjr on Easier Saturday was approved. Mr Waller moved that the centre send congratulations to the amateur centre on its otbeient running of the New Zealand championship* on Saturday last. There had been some of the beat running: seen in Canterbury for yeaia. Mr Coßfev, who *et'onded the motion, said I hat the centre was setting along very well with the amateur body. Relations between the two centres were particularly pleasant. The motion was carried. Mr Coffey reported that there were big entries for every event, at the St. Patrick's sport* and arrangements were well in hand. ST. PATRICK'S SPORTS. At tbe St. Patrick's sports medio*; at .English Park on Saturday tho appearance, of champions in several branches of athletics is promised. New Zealand's amateur sprint champion. J. B. MacFarlone, ii set big tasks in the 100 yds and 220 yds handicaps. but ha will m»ke the events more than interesting for those to whom he is conceding Harts. Macl'arlane is a great runner, and so is T. G-. Broadway, 'fho. during the afternoon, will mako an atempt on the 1000 yds record of '.!min IS 4-siec at present; heid by Don. Kvans. This will be » featuro of the day's eport. W. Mat-kin, a popular and provod rider of a lew years back, will be making a, welcome reappearance in the cycling events, and hi.s meeting with W. J. Lamberton, a Xew Zealand former champion rider from Sydney, will prove most entertaining. Ladies handicaps and children's *vents will complete an excellent, programme.
