VICTORIA LEAGUE.
ENJOYABLE GARDEN PARTY. The members of the Victoria League j and their friends owe a debt of grati-.' tude to Mrs Deans for lending the beautiful grounds of her home, Riccarton House, tor their annual gardeu party, which was held in perfect weather yesterday afternoon. The guests, amongst whom were & number qf oyflijdeas visitors and several from South' "'Canterbury, were corned by Mrs Deans*, wno wore a navy georgette frock with vestee or pearl-pmk satin, a long georgette coat, and a navy straw hat banded witu navy ribbon. The visitors, greatly enjoyed the beauty of the picturesque grounds, with their wide lawns, their flowerbeds gay with roses, asters, an«' hydrangeas, and, above all, their tine old trees. Radio music was provided and tea was served out-of-doors, witu an enormous pear-tree, which had been brought from Nelson in 1845, standing sentinel in tho background. The tables, with thoir orange and primrose cloths, were effectively decorated with bowls of mixed flowers.
