The fire occurred when, th* launch was taking aboard bensine. At explosion occurred, and the flamw spread rapidly. ' Rolfe and bis wift were unable to escape before tney wen badly burned. The launch was extensively damaged. It is valued. a 1 £4OO, and is not insured. Girls are now receiving training h domestic work at seven centres in Grea Britain; six of these are in England am the seventh in Scotland. The course last; from eight to ten weeks. Beading while travelling has reeentl; been investigated, and it was found the, on top of a tramcaj the speed of read ing was decreased by 12 per cent, am .on the top of buses by 50 per eent.
