PERSONAL. The town clerk (Mr F. Hobbs) leaves to-night for Eotorua, where he will attend the annual conference of the Town Clerks' Association, and will represent the Lyttelton Borough Council at the annual conference of the Municipal Association. Lodge Meeting. At the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Kaia Toa Lodge, N.G. Sister M. Duff presided. The district balance-, sheet was received. A committee was formed to meet the Loyal City of Norwhich Lodge regarding the ritual competition. Past Grand Sister M. Nystrom and N.G. Sister M. Buff were appointed delegates to attend the annual district meeting at Pigeon Bay in March. An evening was given in honour of Past Grand Sister A. Davies, who is shortly to be married. Many useful gifts were presented to her by the N.G. Competitions and musical items were much enjoyed. Picnic. Pupils of the Springfield School and the parents, to the number of 100, held their annual picnic.at Corsair, Bay yesterday. Dance. A dauce will be held in the Lyttelton Club Hall to-morrow night under the auspices of the Lyttelton Club's Cricket Club. Sailing. The interest taken in the Takapuna sailing arranged for Saturday afternoon in which girls will sail the boats has induced the Canterbury Yacht and Motor-Boat Club to add two other races, one for 14-footers and an open class sailing race, for women skippers. Lyttelton Golf Club. The annual meeting of the Lyttelton Golf Club was held last evening, Mr H. Ayers, club captain, presided over a large attendance. The chairman referred to the death of Captain T. M. Hunter, one of the founders of the club, an 4 a life member. As a mark of respect members stood in silence. Six resignations were received and two new members were proposed. In forwarding his reSignation, Mr T. W. Patterson enclosed a cheque for a. trophy. The secretary, in his annual report, stated that the membership had been well maintained. The club's assets now totalled £4OO, which showed a strong financial position. The pavilion was now as up-to-date and convenient as it was possible to make it with the funds m the committee's disposal, and it should meet members' requirements for some time 'to come. The links had been in splendid order during the past year and members have been able to enjoy a good season's sport. - The balance-sheet showed the club to have a credit in the bank of £l* 15s and no liabilities. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr E. Orton Bradley; vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. Stokes and Boy Anderson; club captain, Mr H. E. Ayets; vieecaptain, Mr D. E. L. Collett; secretary, Mr M.' McGilligan; treasurer, Mr H. Derbidge; committee, Messrs M. L. Page, H. Fletcher, B. N. Thomas, T. Bowling, L. Gower, and P. Knights: transport- committee,- I'essrs H. Fletcher and T. Bowling; auditor, Mr K. Gower; catering committee, Mrs H. G. Banfield and Miss M. "Williams; social committee, Mrs H. G. Banfield, Misses P* Plimmer, C. Williams, I. Sowden, and 13. Ayers, Messrs B. Crawford, L. and K. Gower, and C. Plimmer. On the motion of Mr L. Gower it waa decided that the bogey for No. 1 hole should be reduced from five to four, that of No. 7 from fou* to three. . A vote of thanks was passed to the secretary (Mr M. McGilligan) for the able manner in which he had carried out Me work, the donors of trophies, and all who had assisted the club.
