ACCIDENTS.
STATIONMASTER FOUND DEAD. FALL OF 150 FEET. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEG*AH 3 GBEYMOUTH, February 23. The death occurred last night at Ecwanui in tragic circumstances of Mr William R. Lyne, stationmaster, 30 years of age, who arrived last week from Timaru on transfer.. He had j only commenced his new. duties at Kewanui on Friday. He left home last,night, presumably on a tour of inspection, and when he did not return a search was made. His body was discovered about 12.30 a.m. at the foot of Duggan's coal bins. It is surmised that he was making an examination of the bins and overbalanced, falling approximately 150 feet. He leaves a widow and two young daughters. CYCLIST INJURED. Byron John Miller, a youug man living at 228 Esplanade, New Brighton, suffered injuries to the head when he came in contact with a post, while cycling in Biccarton road yesterday afternoon. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital and last night his condition was reported not to be serious. FIREMAN INJURED. (PEESS ASSOCIATION TBLEOHAM.) DUNEDIN, February 23. A fixe engine this afternoon in manoeuvring to avoid colliding with a motor-ear when on its way to attend n fire call, violently struck a verandah post at the corner of Rattray and .Princess streets. Fireman J. I. McDonnell received severe head injuries and a compound fracture of the Kit leg. BODY FOUND ON BEACH. (srzeux. to th* m«ss.) GBEYMOUTH, February 23. The body of Arthur Nicholson, who was drowned on Sunday last while ■ surf- ; ing at Seven Mile, was found to-day «n the beach near the S)J mile peg. The discovery was made by two Grey County Council employees, C. Roper and J. I Pinn. Constable Houston, from Dunolj lie, brought the body to Greymouth this afternoon. An inquest, will be held' to-morrow. '
