Burgin (Parliamentary Secretary for Trade) stated that no scheme of Government assistance for shipbuilding generally wan under consideration, but the British Government had already taken steps to secure that international aspects of shipping and shipbuilding as they affect Great Britain should bi brought prominently to the notico of the World Economic Conference. Dr. Burgin, replying to Mr C. U. IWt (Conservative) said he was not satisfied that it would increase the use of British shipping if it were made & condition of preference with the Dominions that, their goods should bo carried in British ships. Such a course might injure more than help British shipping,
