APPLICATION DOUBTED. QUESTIONS IN COMMONS. (CKITED . P&E3S ASSOCIATION—Br BUCTJUC TELEOHM-H—COEVJUGHT.) LON-DON, February 21. Answering Mr G. le M. Mander (Liberal) in the House of Commons, Mr J. H. Thomas (Secretary for the dominions) said the Ottawa agreements provided that Australia and New Zealand should reduce or remove the primage duties as soon as was financially possible. , Australia had already removed the duty 011 35 items. Mr Mander: is it the case that NewZealand has actually raised the primage duties from 3 to 5(5 per cent.? w'hat is Mr Thomas going to do about itf Mr Thomas asked for notice of the questions. Mr Mander asked whether Mr W alter Ituncinuin (President of the Board of Trade) was aware of the British manufacturers' dissatisfaction over the Commonwealth's failure to carry oul the terms of the Ottawa' agreement giving them an opportunity for reasonable competition. Dr. E. L. Burgin (Parliamentary Secretary for Trade) replied that the Commonwealth Act confirming the Ottawa agreements was passed on December 2. The British Government was now in communication with the Commonwealth with reference to the method of giving effect to the agree-i ment.
