Acceptances for the Banks Peninsula Bacing Club's Meeting to be held at Eiccarton on Saturday next will close at 6 p.m. to-day. Nominations for the Eeefton Jockey Club's Summer Meeting will be due at 9 p.m. to-day. Non-Totalisator Fixture Abandoned. Owing to the poor support accorded the annual race meeting held on Boxing Day by the Hurunui Turf Club it has been decided to abandon the fixture for this year, and to make a determined effort to run a double meeting in 1933. Eiccarton Training Notes. Ideal conditions prevailed for training operations at Eiccarton yesterday, and same interesting work was done on the inside of the trial grass, which provided hard going, and fast times were general. The plough was also in good order, but work on it was restricted. The Reverse Way. Silver Scorn opened proceedings by covering nine furlongs in lmin 53 3-5 sec, her sectional times being: first half '4O l-ssee, five furlongs lmin 2sec, six lmin 14 2-ssec, seven lmin 27sec, and ■mile lmin 40sec. She carried her usual pilot, A. Eastwood, and did not appear 'to bo doing her best at any stage of the journey. ■" Berate (A. Eastwood) ran a mile in lmin 42 2-ssec, taking 52sec for the second half. In contrast to her stablemapß and relative, she had to be kicked Up' to her work, but nevertheless gave an attractive display. Bright Prospects. Cricket Bat followed in a mile task in lmin 40 2-ssec, the first half taking 49sec, six furlongs lmin 15 3-ssec, and seven furlongs lmin 27 4-osec. He carried a light weight and finished on full of running. The two-year-old Fracas reeled off half a mile "in 48sec. She is developing into a solid youngster, and should make her presence felt at Ellerslie. Not Seriously Tested. Gay Crest (B. Brodie) and Tout le Monde (E. Ludlow) were companions in a mile gallop taking lmin 44, 2-ssec, the second half in 53sec. They kept together for about seven furlongs, and the latter then drew away, and beat his mate comfortably. Gay Crest, however, can'never be relied on in his track work, and was capable of doing much better than this. The Quorn outclassed Adelphi over half a mile in 49 l-ssec, and is undoubtedly very well. Coming Bight. Silver King, ridden by G. Humphries, was kept in restraint over the early part of a mile task and recorded 52sec for eaeh half. He looks better now than at any time since his return from Sydney, and hopes are entertained that he will strike form again at Ellerslie. He will probably contest the Akaroa Handicap on Saturday. Still on Beck. Fast Passage covered a mile in lmin | 40 2-ssec, moving freely throughout. She was accompanied by Dorian over the last half, which occupied 50 2-ssee. Present indications are that there will not be much amiss with her when paraded at Ellerslie on Boxing Day. v On the Plough. Jaloux (A. Eastwood), assisted by Azalea, galloped nine furlongs comfortably in lmin 59 3-ssec, the last six in lmin 19 3-ssec. Great Star (B. Coveny) and Grand Beview each strode, over a circuit at a strong pace. The former is suffering slightly from soreness in front, and may have to forgo any more galloping before bis departure for the north on Friday, while should there be any serious break in his preparation, he will contest the Railway Handicap in preference to the Auckland Cup, and Grand Beview will start in the Eobinson Handicap. Kakara (D. O'Connor) covered six furlongs in lmin 17sec, and finished well. Tip Tree and Iceni ranllalf a mile in 52 2-ssec, and Pixie Gold beat Picard over six furlongs in lmin 20sec, the last three in 41sec. On the Grass. Heatherglow, a three-year-old gelding by Day Comet from Heatherbrae, reeled off half a mile in 50 l-ssoc. He has shown he is gifted with speed on •everal occasions on the track, but is a bad feeder and it may be found difficult to keep him up to racing condition. Shelter displayed promising form by galloping seven furlongs in lmin 30se<\ and Grecian Prince was kept in chetic in recording lmin 32see for the same journey. Juniper attracted attention by galloping six furlongs with Chief Light in lmin 16 3-ssec, and finishing slightly in front. In Unusual Bole. Night Flyer (A. Eastwood), Eamo (B. Ludlow), and Weatherly (C. Eastwood) were associated in a mile task run in lmin 42sec. They kept together for Bix furlongs but Night Flyer then drew out and had a decisive victory from Eamo, who just headed Weatherly. Night Flyer is usually a bad track worker, but changed his tactics on this occasion. Bamo was disappointing and is a long time getting back to the form "he showed last autumn. Weatherly, too, is alov to make improvement, bat will «ome to hand with racing.
i A Speedy Filly. : Polydora finished half a length in front of Scarlet Pimpernel, and the pair were well clear of Elude at the end of half a mile run in 49 2-ssec. Polydora gave Scarlet Pimpernel a good start, hopping off, and her time was slightly better. Elude did not strike out satisfactorily on the hard going. 'i Coast Candidates. Reserve Fund' beat Tea Garden in a half-mile sprint along the back in 49 \ 2-osec, and Eothen accounted for Nightguard and Water Polo over the samo ground in 49sec. Monastic strode over seven furlongs in lmin 33sec, and his stablemate, Taku Tama, did easy work. The latter was recentlv taken up with a view to racing on the" West Coast- circuit. Monastic will contest the High-weight on Saturday and will be ridden by \V. Pascoe. Pa'kitere and tho unnamed Paladin mare in A. S. Ellis's stable ran six furlongs in lmin 17 l-sscc, the last three in 3Ssec. Both will race on the West Coast. Yerden comfortably beat Eiri over a similar journey in lmin 10 l-ssec. Tho former, who 'is a half-brother, by Shambles, to Charmcuse, will win some money in the next few weeks. On the other" hand, Eiri, who will accompany Yerden to the Coast Meetings, does not look like doing his new owner many good turns. Cup Favourite Impresses. Concentrate (A. Eastwood) was allotted a mile and a quarter gallop, Martian Chief joining him at the six furlongs post. The first two furlongs took 29 2-ssec, and the first half 54sec, but he came home the last" four furlongs in 50sec. His time for the full journey was 2min 10 2-ssec, the last milo thus taking lmin 41sec. This was an excellent gallop and Concentrate was moving very freely at the finish. i He is to go north to-morrow. Recovered. Importance, whose poisoned leg is practically right again, reeled off half a mile in 50 3-ssec. Niggerhead and Counterplav covered the samo ground in 49sec. Tho latter was in front from the outset, but Niggerhead finished on the better. Always a Winner. Eed Heckle was responsible for a sterling gallop with Eanelugh over seven furlongs. They ran the first three in 36sec, half in 49 2-ssec, and tho full distance in lmin 28 l-ssec. There was not much between them at tho finish, but Eed Heckle held his companion safe throughout the run home, and could have recorded even faster time. Ho was ridden by L. J. Ellis, who will have tho mount on him in the Akaroa Handicap on Saturday. Eed Heckle's trainer has made several efforts to get a rider for the Manawatu Cup, but so far has been unsuccessful. ' • Silver Sight accounted for over five furlongs in lmin 3 3-ssec, tho last half in 50 2-ssec. Maiden Performers. Delice and Golden Dart ran a similar task in lmin 4sec, tho last half m 50sec, and Eclair and Natural recorded lmin 3 3-ssec. . , Metal Bird and Wise Choice shaped pleasingly in traversing seven furlongs in lmin 29 l-ssee, tho first half in 49 4-ssee. ' Sharp Thorn drew away from Kooin Hood over the concluding stages of a six furlongs gallop taking lmin 16Jsec, the last half 50 l-ssec. Tho former will be ridden by A. E. Ellis orf Saturday. Grouse beat Silent Flight in a sprint over half a mile along the back in 48 Lord Masham easily accounted for Balrazie, after taking 58sec for half a mile. This pair are to assist at tho Coast Meetings. For Ellerslie. P. V. Mason leaves to-morrow for Ellerslie with Jaloux and Azalea. His apprentice rider, A. Stove, will remain for the Meeting at Eiccarton on Saturday and will go north that night. A. Eastwood will follow a. similar plan, and A. E. Ellis, G. Humphries, and B. Coveny will leave for Auckland on Monday. Under Treatment. Shatter was on the tracks yesterday, but was restricted to walking exercise. He is an unlikely starter at Eiccarton on Saturday, but there is a chance he will be sent north early next week. Riding on Coast. The Eiccarton horseman, W. Pascoe, will attend the West Coast Meetings, and will ride Eavine in his engagements. This combination was successful in two races at the Eeefton Winter Meeting on June 4th. A. Messervy will also be riding on the Coast circuit. Count Cavour'B Brother. Gustavo is going on the right way again at Eiccarton and in some recent gallops has shown he has not lost any of his Bpeed by his lengthy term of inactivity. Yesterday he finished well clear of Bational 11. at the end of five furlongs on the grass run in lmin ssec, and was not allowed to do his best. Gustavo represents good class and his future progress will be followed with interest. Highly Commended. There is one Canterbury-bred yearling who will attract a lot of attention at the Trentham sales next month. The colt by Hunting Song from Spotlight has been under inspection by many good judges, and has come in for great commendation. Somo of the experts acclaim him tho best-looking Hunting Song they have seen. He is a light chestnut with a silver mane and tail, and it will be hard to find a more muscular colt of his age. The fact that he claims Spotlight as his dam is something extra in his favour. This mare, by Nassau from Stardancer, comes from a very successful producing line, and already sho has earned high honours through this season's deeds of her son, Argentic. A Good Trial. Red Sun will be a runner in tho To Awamutu Cup on Saturday. K. "Yoitre has been engaged for him there, but no definite arrangement has yet been made in regard to the mount m the Auckland Cup. Eed Sun continues to work the reverse* way at Trentham and on Saturday morning ran seven furlongs in lmin 29|sec on the trial grass. Manawatu Cup Candidate. Joie de Val, who looks improved with her racing at Levin and Feilding, is doing good work. She will bo a Btarter in the Manawatu Cup on Boxing Day and W. J. Broughton has been engaged to ride her. Coll Injured. An accident happened on Sunday morning to Mr J. Adamson's racehorse, Coll, who came into contact with a trestle during training operations on the Hokitika racecourse. The mishap will prevent him from being a starter at the West Coast race meetings at Christmas time.
