TRANSPORT UNDER DIFFICULTIES.
INJURED FARMER'S ORDEAL
Farmers in the Lees Valley recently went to considerable trouble to make as comfortable as possible the journey of an injured man, who had to be brought out. from an isolated part of the district in order to "be to the Christchurch Public Hospital for an X-ray examination. Recently Mr G. A. Bruce,' of "Island Hill" Lees Valley, met with a simple but'painful accident. He was riding home from a neighbours house .after dark when his horse tell, throwing him hoavilv He struck his head on the ground, suffering a partial dislocation of the vertebra of the neck. Mr Bruce ■ W n« able to remount and proceed to his home, but after medical attention it was found necessary to have an X-ray CX oT l the°day chosen for the trip to Oxford it was found that the mptor-car ?o be used could not ford the Ashley river and other means of transport had tf> be devised.
