BELGIAN SPORTSMAN.
COUNT LE BAILLET-LATOUR.
Representatives of sports and other organisations at a meeting yesterday afternoon made arrangements to entertain suitably Count le Baillet-Latour, president of the International Olympic Federation, a Belgian, who is expected to visit Christchurch during the present month. The convener of the meeting, Mr R. J. Hobbs, who presided, stated that the Count, who would arrive in the Dominion by the Mariposa on September 12th, would be in Christchurch from September 23rd to 27th, and it was the Wish of the visitor that he should meet as many representatives of amateur sports bodies as possible. Mr J. K. Moloney moved that a subcommittee be set up with a view to arranging a suitable welcome on behalf of the amateur sports bodies of Christchurch. This was agreed to. Mr A. E. McPhail suggested that the various sports bodies should co-operate in the direction of providing a dinner in honour of Count le Baillet-Latour. It was decided to hold a dinner jat a city hotel on September 24th, and a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs R. J. Hobbs (rowing), J. TC. Moloney (Rugby football), R. W. Beattie (athletics), and S. G. Holland CCitizens' Association), was set up to make the necessary arrangements. It was suggested that four representatives of each organisation _ concerned should be invited to the dinner. Tt. was decided to make arrangements for a civic reception to be accorded the distinguished visitor. ' Mr Holland intimated that the Citizens' Association would be prepared to entertain the Count at a luncheon on Monday, September 2fith.
