COUNTY COUNCILS
AMURI. At the monthly meeting of the Aniiiri' County Council there were 1 present: Cr. it.' Bethell (chairman), Crs.' H. R. Davidson, 3. J. Duncan, R. Mercer, K. Pettigrew, G, O. Rutherford, R. L. Jameson, and J. J. Gallagher. The clerk was instructed to write to the Public Works Department to urge the completion of the main highways estimates and. also to request an early payment of highway subsidies on maintenance. Mr W. E. Cook applied for and was granted permission to open' a trench across Scarborough terrace, lianraer, to lay a water pipe lino to his residence, subject to the work being carried out to the satisfaction of the county engineer. It was decided to obtain two copies of a" booklet, "Development of. Rural Roads," compiled by tho New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers. It was resolved that in View of insufficient fund's being available from the Unemployment Board for Scheme 5 for the period ending September 10th, the sum of £5 be granted from the unemployment reserve fund, and that nine sacks of seed potatoes be purchased for the community vegetable plot for unemployed at Hanmer out of the same fund. It was resolved to call tenders for Leach's road formation.
