I ASTONISHING STORY TOLD TO MAGISTRATE. (UNITED PRESS ' ASSOCIATION—BT ELECTRIC TELIOBAPH—COPKBIOHT.) PARIS, May 17. Dr. Paul Gouguloff (the White Russian who assassinated M. Paul Doumer) told tho examining Magistrate an astonishing story. He said lie had long been dominated by'the idea of killing M. Doumer. He went on the day of the murder t'o the Cathedral of Notre Dame and prayed for hours to dispel the obsession, but failed. Ho even vainly tried to provoke a policeman to arrest him, by enquiring what would happen if he murdered someone. Thereafter •ho went to a cafe and drank a bottle of cognac, in an unsuccessful attempt to get drunk, but the idea of murder persisted, and he went to the book sale. Ho was in a state of hypnosis when he shpt M. Doumer.
