What we need is to expand * rather than to contract the nature and extent of our activities. In a world of mass production, teeming with an abundance of all our requirements, it is absurd to stress economy. Cannbt we at least clarify the issue by admitting that the crux of our present trouble is monetary, and concentrating on this aspect. In Britain, France, and America the closest attention is being paid to various schemes for solving the problems of price control, yet in New Zealand the Government and the Chambers of Commerce can only cry "Economise.*' —Yours, etc., CIVIL ENGINEER.
