Miss England UL, the new motorboat in which Kaye Don hopes to establish a new world's water speed record, was launched torday at the Thames yard of Thorneyorofts, engineers. It has two Schneider Trophy type of RollsBoyce engines, which develop a nominal horse-power of 4000, but actually «onsiderably more. It has twin propellers and rudders fore and aft. She is almost the same size as her famous predecessor. The new boat is 35ft long, and 9Jft broad. Miss England UL was put aboard a ship which sails to-morrow for Italy, where the will compete for the IHannunzio trophy on Lake Garda, and will attempt to create a fresh, record in the autumn. She will also race in the United States. [On September 6th last year, at , Detroit, Kaye Don, driving Lord Wakefield's speed-boat Miss England 11., won the first heat of the contest for the Harmsworth Trophy, defeating Gar Wood by more than a mile. He.established a new competitive race speed record of 89.913 miles an hour for the 30-mile course. In one of the five laps Kaye Don attained 93.017 statute miles an hour. In the second heat Gar Wood, as he subsequently confessed, deliberately tricked Kaye Don into a premature start. During the race Miss England 11. struck Miss America's" wash, overturned, and sank in 20 feet of water. Kaye Don and his-mechanic narrowly escaped drowning.] ' J - .
