♦ ELLESMERE ASSOCIATION. The*, annual meeting of the IDllesmere Miniature 11 if 1 o Association, held at Leeston on Wednesday night, was presided over by Mr f!. 11. Gilbert, and the Sonthbridge, Sedgc-nore-Lakesidc. Killincby, and Leeston clubs were represented. Mr 1). W. Hayes (secretary) presented the balance-sheet, showing a credit of £23 10s 9d. The annual report staled that the standard of shooting had bi-en well maintained last teason. Southbridge had von the A grade shield- and Scclgemere-Lakesido tho B grade. Tlio A and B grade aggiegates were won by Noe! Alexander aud U. Nairn lesjiuclivclj'. bolli of tlio Sedjjemero-Jjiil'.esidc Club, mulches had been fired with Christchurch and Kaiapoi Associations. The championships liad also been Huxessful, D. Boal winning the A grade. and W. Carter the B grade. The A glade teams championship had been won by Killinehy, and lite B grade by Sedge-mere-Lakeside. Monday, May 2.'Jrd, was fixed upon as tho opening night for the competitions.
Tho Association accepted a proposal made by the Kllesmero Gun Club that a shoot for the Maconochie Shield should be arranged l>etween the Gun Club and the various rifle clubs, a stipulation made being that the gun shooting should be at sparrows instead of clays. The gun shooting would be he'd in 'he afternoon and the target shooting at nigl.t. It was decided to reduce the agnation "fees to Is for each club member. Previously the fee had been at the rate of Is (id. Officers weie elected as follows: Patrons, Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes and Messrs I) Jones and J. Connolly, M.P.; president, Mr J. E. Millar; vice-presidents, the president of Leeston Club and Mr H. It. McLaughlin: honorary secretary, Mr 1). W. Hayes; checkers, Messrs If. Gwatldn, C. Glassey, i\ Alexander, and J. Howatscn.
