METHODIST CHURCH.
DURHAM STREET CIRCUIT. The quarterly meeting of. the Durham Street Methodist Circuit was held on Thursday. A motion of sympathy was passed to tho family of Mr E. C. Brown. The balance-sheet, showing au income and expenditure of £230 3s 7d, after allowing a transfer to the trust funds of tho Durham street and Cashmere Hills churches, was received as vory satisfactory. Arrangements were mado lor the church and Homo Mission anniversaries to bo held during the quarter. Encouraging reports of tho Sunday schools and Bible Classes were given by the Rev. P. N. Knight and the I(ev, L. C. Honvood. The question of a reduction of the ministerial stipends was considered and a motion by tho circuit stewards that the tiro had not arrived to suggest any reduction Vas carried unanimously. A letter was received from, the Cainbridge terrace Circuit regarding the social work of Sister Ruth at Durham street South, and asking for an opportunity for her to give a report or her labours, and this was cordially agreed to.
Permission was given to the Somerfield street trustees to apply to the Church Building and Loan Fund for a loan of £250 towards a Sunday school hall, £270 having already been promised to the building. It was reported that arrangements for the Rev. Lionel Fletcher's youths' evangelistic mission, to be held in the Durham street Church, beginning on Sunday, May Ist, were in the hands of a representative committee of the churches.
