An interesting attempt to cross theAtlantic in a replica of Columbus': fa mous ship, the Santa Maria, is to be made. The daring navigator who is planting this enterprise is a Spanish naval officer, Captain Don Julio Guillen who was in. charge of the building of the replica for- the Seville Exhibition two years ago. He is to navigate by the old. methods, and will not employ any instrument or equipment of a kind not invented! in 1492. Many adventurous ocean voyages have been made recently in vessels still smaller than -this reconstruction of Columbus' ship, but tliey were, of course, of modern type. Still, Don Julio -and his companions will have -at "least one advantage over Columbus—they know w,bere they are going to, and Columbus didn't!
