S ■ The November return .relating to-the Canterbury Division of.the Boyal Naval Volunteer Beaerire sets out that there were five drills of "A" subdivision and four of *"B f > subdivision, the average attendance of officers being six and five respectively, and of men 47 and 48 respectively. Numbers: of men oh List 1.,, "A" subdivision, 55: "B" subdivision, 59; on List 11., "A" subdivision, 26. . Afternoon « Parades—Saturday, November 14th: The Division was inspected by Bear-Admiral-Geoffrey Blake. C.8., D.5.0., 8.N., Commodore Commanding New Zealand Division of the Boyal Navy. Attendance:. Officers 12, other ratings 90. Annual inspection—Saturday, 7th, 21st, and 28th, were boat parages, in T. G. Deveron and both whalers, with an attendance of officers 12, other ratings 75. Promotions— Two ordinary seamen to able seaiiien, one seaman •, to ordinary signalman, four ordinary signalmen to qualified signalmen. _ General Bemarks on Training—Tueaday evenings, during this month were occupied with miniature rifle competitions, between both , subdivisions, and a'team from the flagship. Gunnery and signal classes "wer© ghren extra traininsr, to prepare for competitions. During the stay of the flagship, H.M.S. Diomede in port, a volunteer signal class and a class for gunnery ™ Tf> given facilities to receive instruction onboard. . ' - »
