WARM AND DRY.

■ ■ NOVEMBER WEATHER. (rr.ESS ASSOCIATION TELEGKAM) WELLINGTON, December 7. Mr Pcmberton, acting-director of the Meteorological Office, in the course of his notes on the weather for November, says that in marked contrast to last year, when November was one of the coldest over experienced, the past month had been a particularly warm one, and at many places the mean temperature was the highest recorded in November for many years over the greater portion ui the nonunion. l£ was also a very dry motiili, TaranaUi and isolated places in the lur north and south being the only parts of the country where the total rainfall exceeded the average. The greatest deficiences occurred in Nelson and the Kast Coast provinces. The continued drv weather in these districts retarded the growth of vegetation, cereal crops in South Canterbury especially suffering severely in this respect. Fairly general rain, however, about November 21st, was very helpful and greatly relieved the anxiety of farmers. Unfortunately Muwke's Hay received little or no rain at this time,. In mosL other parts of the Dominion on account of occasional local showers and warm temperatures, vegetation made fair growth. For instance, in the central portion of the North fsland, the. sultry conditions which had prevailed culminated in some seYere thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy downpotirs Feed grew rapidly, and there «•«« surplus grass for the first time this year. For the country as a whole, however, good rains were needed to ensure better yrowfli in crops and sufficient pasturage for summer. Stunk generally were in good condition, especially sheep, cattle having suffered somewhat from the dryness in the eastern districts. I
