Judgment was reserved in the cam in which Emiiio Scala was sued by » number of fellow-countrymen for shares in the £354,544 which he won in the last Irish sweepstake. [Emiiio Scala, an Italian calekeeper at Battersea Park* won tike first prize of £354,544 in the Irish eweepstake on the Grand National race afc Liverpool, but compatriots in London, claiming that the winning ticket w* 3 one of sixty tickets, took legal action to secure their shares. When the can opened at Dublin on April 13th, counsel for the plaintiffs explained tba* they claimed to be Scala's partners under a written agreement concerning two books of tickets. There was * third book in which they had & common interest, hut Scala was entitled to dispose of some of the ticketa therein. The winning ticket was ome of two free tickets to which the seHer of the book was entitled, but when the agreement was made, ail . the ticket numbers were included.
