MEN STAY AWAY FROM WORK. (SPECIAL TO THE FBESS.) GftEYiUOUTH, September 14. The Wallsend mino did not wovk today, tho miners staying away. Tho union informer] tho management that it did not meet yesterday. It is stated tlmfc the. men objected to the company's surveyor, who is a non-unionist, working one day last week when the mine was idle. The miners remained away as a protest. The company states that the mine will open to-morrow; hut if tha men do not resumr, there will be no further work during the remainder of this week.
