i (CONTINUED.) I LEESTON FOOTBALLERS' BALL. The Leeßton Football Club's annual ball, held on Thursday night, drew the largest assemblage that has attended any gathering in the Leeston Town Hall this year. The work and enthusiasm of the members were rewarded by an attendance that exceeded expectations, patrons coming from every part of the EHesmere . Sub-ltnion's district, and some from beyond. The ; liall, decorations, fashioned by, numbers of the club, were an important contribution to the atmosphere of festivity. The red and white colours of Leeston wero intertwined in the form of streamers, and a representation of goal-posts with a football ascending the cross-bar, Btood at the front of the hall. The dance programme was carried through under the direction of Messrs E. H. Ford and T. D. M. Bradley, the Master of Ceremonies, and its enjoyment was heightened by the inttoduction of novelties, The music was provided by Seymour's Orchestra. Two lucky, spot waltzes were .held, the win? ners being Mr G. J. Woodham and Mrs Priddis, and Mr Ij. McCartin and Miss Bohan. Exhibition dances were given by Mr Watts and Miss Love, pupils of Miss Iris Edmonds's School of Dancing. In acknowledgment of her assistance in connexion with the serving of afternoon teas after matches, the president, Mr F. B. Clausen, presented to Mrs P. J l . Kelleher a dressing-table set. Two awards made upon the season's play were also presented. L. Hantz was. the winner of a trophy for the keenest player, given by Mr W. H. Cartwright, and O. CATHOLIC BALL AT RANGIORA.

Hie annual Catholic Ball held ia the Anglican Parish Hall at Bangiora proved to be a very successful gathering, dancers being present from all parts of the district. The hall and lounge were artistically decorated with streamers and evergreens, While the sup-per-tables were decorated with spring flowers. An energetic cojnmittee, witla Mr G, P. Brady as secretary and Mr P. V, Mcßrearty as chairman, had made complete arrangements to ensure the enjoyment of their patrons, and the supSer arrangements were in the hands of [rs G. Brady and Mrs L, Mwan. Excellent music was supplied for the dancing by Mr S. Inns ' orchestra, and extras were played by Misses N. FiW gibbop, E. Miles, and M. Brady. The duties of M.C.'s were carried out by Messrs M. Kennedy, J. Power, and T. Moran. Novelty dances were won by Miss Hilda Gibbs and partner, and Miss Neseie Fowler and partner.
