A large whale •which swam into the course of the liner Majestic a few weeks ago when she was fifteen hours out ■from New York,.was cut clean through by the bows of the vessels. One of the crew stated, on the arrival of the vessel at Southampton, that the ship I cut through the whale like a knife ! through butter. The two portions of i the carcase were left floating on the surface of the ocean, which was coloured crimson over a large area by the blood of the whale. By jumping with his parachute from a height of 4000 ft, Flight-Cadet Bradley, aged 17, of Cranwell Flying School, near Sleaford, had a thrilling escape from death; Bradley "was flying at that height near Leasingham, Sleaford, when his aeroplane crashed, and was totally wrecked. He jumped with the paraehute and landed safely in a field adjoining Lakefleld House, Leasingham, the residence of the Hon. Francis de Moleyns. The aeroplane | crashed three-quarters of a mile away.
