Lust Wednesday night, a con- . ;il>!o on his Lent was approached by man who said that he had booked i n at, the Arcadia Hotel, but was un " : bio to train admittance at that late '•our. The constable suggested that would be able to secure accommo- j tation at the Terminus Hotel, wnero i hero was a night porter. The man .cted on this suggestion, and was •ooked in by the night porter at the Terminus, givim; the name oi Win-j •ioue. . i iTii,i now lodger explained that i ue would ha joining him about midiav on Thursdav, and the woman duly ■ invjd for lunch. The management •11 the hotel became suspicious, howver. owing to the mysterious movements of the new lodgers. ■ The domestic staff of the hotel was instructed ••> keep a careful watch on the movements of Mr and Mrs Winstone. The man seldom had his meals in j-.? dining-room, preferring them 111 lis bedroom. Other lifctl© incidents •nd the movements generally of the ■ i<3w arrivals strengthened the sus--j.ifions of tlio management. The police were accordingly notified, ■vith the result, it is stated, that the ucused are at present charged with iieiug armed with an offensive weapon, namely a five-chambered revolver at Uiramar.
