A wish that two minutes' silence should be observed for him after death was expressed in t-hc will of Mr Thomas llall Elwen, of Harworth-ou Tees, Durham, whose gross estate was proved at £21,334. Mr Elwen directed that his body should be cremated, and stated: "I desire neither religious nor secular ceremony, and am of opinion that two minutes' silence _ before the body passes into the incinerating chamber is the most impressive. My wife and I," he added, "do not agree on this, and I leave the arrangements to her good sense."
