COUNTY CLERKS.
— MEETING OF INSTITUTE. The fourth annual meeting and reunion dinner of the Canterbury and Marlborough Branch of the New Zealand Institute of County Clerks was held on Thursday, when the president, Mr G. Maginness (Paparua} presided ov«r a good attendance of members. Messrs F. Langbcin (Public Works Department), and R. T. Bailey (Labour Department) were present as guests of the Branch. In his report, the president stated that tho membership was 23, fee veil being associate members. Papers on subjects of interest had been prepared and circulated during the year. Congratulations were extended to Mr C. Campbell (Ashburton), who leit the district in January to take up tho positiou of county clerk at Stratford, and to Mr W. T. Lindsay (Waipara) on his nomination as a candidate for the forthcoming Parliamentary elections. Mr C. Kelly (Ashburton) reported on the work of the Dominion executive during the year. The statement of receipts and expenditure disclosed a favourable financial position Officers for the ensuing year were appointed as follows: —President, Mr G Kelly (Ashburton); vice-president,. Mr J. H. McAuliffe (Heatbeote): secretary and treasurer. Mr G. J. Broker (Ashburton); auditor, Mr A. A. Readdie (Geraldine); executive. Messrs G.. S. Cowper (Waimairi), G. Maeinucss (Paparua). W. T. Lindsav (Waipara), and J. Mackenzie (Halswell). The toast of retirine officials was proposed by Mr J. Mackenzie (Halswell), and responded to by the president.
