A To Awamutu taxi proprietor was fiiiecl 10s and costs the other day for carrying a passenger on his runningboard. The passenger was fined 5s and costs 10s. The passenger said the driver had a full load, and he could find no other means of getting to Ivihikihi that night. The traffic inspector said the passenger was lying full length on the running-board and proposed to travel at least three miles in that position. The Magistrate commented that it seemed a very dangerous practice, and perhaps a conviction and fine' would stop it- ' •
