An inquest failed to throw the least light on the death of Lieutenant Cheviss, who died on July 29th after taking a meal. An open verdict was returned. After the widow had described the meal iti detail, the police admitted that they had failed to trace the source of strvchriine or the sender of the "hoo-rajr" telegram^
