ATTEMPT ON FIRTH OF FORTH. (united rnsss association—bt • elecisio TBLEOEAPH—copybight.) LONDON, June 2(5. Miss Lily Copplestone has commenced training in London. She is leaving for tho north nest week to attempt several records, including the crossing of the Firth of Forth before her departure to Gris Nez. When asked who was training her for her Channel attempt she replied: "Nobody. I am doing everything." A decided disagreement of opinion in which his Excellency the GovernorGeneral participated took place at Gisborne. In his lengthy address of welcome Mr W. D. Lysnar, M.P., touched on the economic depression, and outlined what he believed were main causes. In doing so, he maintained that the Empire Marketing Board was so mixed up. with politics at' Home that it'was doing little good" for ■this part of the Empire. Lord Bledialoe, during his reply, dealt with tbis'remark, say? ing that at One time he sat ton the Empire Marketing Board, and he was able to.say that, whatever might be the Board's* defects; it was ;in no way mixed- up in politics.
