CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Tho Management Committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association met last evening. Present: Messrs R. A. Campbell (chairman), W. H. Down, H. W. Rogers, J. Squire, P. JTullwood, R. Wear, Tj. Sutherland, P. Barry, B. W. Rogers, 11. Snook, L. Ward. T E* Douds, and A. L. Graham* A bulletin containing an account of the business done at the last meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association was received, and it was decided te express appreciation of the statement. 4 The sum o£ £1 la was voted to tho Women's Unemployment Committee. In answer to a request from the City C6uncil, it was decided to mqve the goal-posts at the Simeon street ground. The Referees' Association wrote complaining about_ the remarks of a few coaches on the _ side-lines, and stating that unless the tatcics ceased the Referees' Association would be compelled to take action to abate the trouble. ' The Trinity Club forwarded £1 lg towards the cost of sending a junior team to Auckland. The New Zealand Association advised that on account of v the Otago Association declining to play the first challenge Shield match on Juno 37th, the date had been offered and. accepted by the Buller Association. The following dates were suggested for the remaining Shield matches, in the event of Canterbury holding the Shield:—Waikato, July 11th; Otago, August Ist; Poverty Bay, Atigust 15tli; Nelson, August 29th. The New Brighton Club forwarded a' donation towards the cost of sending a junior team to Auckland. The Redcliffs Club was granted permission to send a team to Met-hven on July 4th. The following is the team to represent Canterbury in the Challenge Shield mat'eh against Buller, at Lancaster Park, at' 1.30 p.m. on Saturday:—ll. Snook, E. Dash, C. Rogers, C. Hore, 11. Hore, B. Rogers, F. Forinan, D. McCormUik, S. Bell (Captain), P. Fullwood, and R. Sherriffs. Emergencies: R. Sleynoll, A. Smith, T. Turbitt, atid G. Burke. Tho chairman reported that a grant had been received from tile Herbert Smith Trust Fund, to be used to supply trophy sticks to schoolboy players. It was upon Thomas Legge in • 1354 that the title of "Lord" was first conferred in addition to that of "Mayor" qf London. Sixty-two persons held the office of Mayor of London before 1354. Henrjr Fitz Alwyn, the first Lord Mayor of London, was appointed by the Crown in 1188, and he continued in office for 24 years. Prior to 1188 lhe chief official of London was called the Pwtroeve,
