THE HOSPITAL.
MEETING OF BOARD. The North Canterbury- Hospital Board met yesterday, Mr H. J. Otley presiding. /Drs. J. D. Marks, F. V. Bevan- , Brown, and Malcolm Gray were appointed as senior physicians. Hospital Committee. Tlie Hospital Committee reported tLat the nurses who trained in the Christehurch Hospital had been granted permission- to put a window inthc Hospital Chapel as a memorial to Miss Ew'art who, many years ago, was matron of the institution. A letter had been received from the Domains Board stating that it was proposed 'that the Board should be enabled to lease a sufficient portion of the "Cabbage Patch" to enable .four tennis courts to be laid down: the measurement would he approximately 183 feet east and west,, and 140 feet north and south The area would be licensed to the Board at £6 per annum, conditional upon the courts heinv* constructed within the term. This'matter had been left in the hands of tho chairman of the committee, Mr Walter, and Dr. Foster 1 to go into the question of laying the courts and the class of court to be laid. The report was adopted. Public Health Committee. The Public Health Committee reported that although it was proposed to replant a largo portion of the plantation attached "to tho Infectious Diseases Hospital, it had now been decided not to carry out any planting in this year, but rather to put one-year-old plants into nursery beds and plant them out in next year after the holes had been thoroughly seasoned by exposure to the weather and had received a good drenching. .This would ensure a good strike of trees. His record shows th't he has wrestled some of the greatest ' matsmen of the world. Having met men like JTnckensmiclt/ Zbyasko. Thye, -and Karasick, the Finn should be able to give a good nccount of himself against Alley. He weighs close on 2UOlb.
