!■ A soutli-wo'stor, of full force, prevailed I at Lyttcltoii all day on Saturday, and it moderated' only in the eveni ing. The ferry steamer, Wa-, hine, arrived at 7.5 on Satur-1 day morning, a very good performance I 5n such weather. The Maheno did' not arrive at Lyttelton until 9.25 a.m. yesterday. She had-a vet v rough trip from ' Wellington against a heavy head sea, especially in Cook Strait. Other vessels duo from- the north have been delayed and their arrival is indefinite. The New Zealand Shipping Company's 12,000 "ton linor, llotorua, sailed from Lyttelton on Saturday, afternoon, in the height of the gule ,and withiu 1 one hour of low water.
