BLUE MOUNTAINS TRAGEDY.
FALL FROM ECHO POINT. (Received April 29th, 7.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 29. The body of Mrs Vera Bailey, aged 36 years, was found impaled on a tree on the mountainside at Katoomba. Her son, aged 9 years, was discovered on a rocky ledge nearby with a hip broken. The pair had fallen nearly 600 feet at Echo Point, a favourite resort. They had been missing since yesterday afternoon. The rescuers had considerable difficulty in recovering the mother's body. She had lately suffered a nervous breakdown. (Reoeived April 29th, 9 p.m.) SYDNEY. April 29. The injured boy, William Bailey, recovered consciousness, and tola the storv of his mother's disappearance. While he was absent playing about a swing he found his mother's hat on ft seat above the cliff. He called to her. but there was no response. He began to climb down tl»i> cliff, but fell many feet. Then he saw her body in a tree in the chasm below. He pluckilv tried to reach her, but fell twenty _ feet to another ledge and broke a htp. -tie remembered no more, and spent the night in bitter cold sleet. The boy was found by park rangers to-day.
